Lessons learned from a fast-paced scaleup
Our colleague Andreas worked at a client in the MarTech industry that helps companies gather and distribute user generated content. It’s a fast paced industry, currently transforming an existing industry from the core, where the focus is on providing more trustworthy content for retailers.
Many of the biggest Swedish e-commerces use their services, as managing large amounts of social media content is far from easy. Andreas and his team built a function to better organize schedule and post content across markets, as well as visualizing the posts’ performance.
Some things Andreas learned along the way…
Different experiences and competences complement each other! A team can be extremely senior in many ways, but without bringing in a fresh set of eyes, it’s easy to get stuck. The client was in the midst of a migration to TypeScript, and this was where Andreas was most appreciated by his most experienced colleagues – because if there’s one thing he knows, it’s TypeScript.
The project was special in that they built something from scratch, so every previous choice needed to be ransacked and every new choice carefully considered. “For every decision, the WHY of things needed to be taken into consideration.”
Since it is such a fast paced industry, the team was releasing new features hand over fist, and it was no place for anyone that wasn’t super flexible and tolerant to change. Luckily, Andreas was in his proper element.
Last but not least, “The importance of agile working has never been more clear”, says Andreas.
