I think I’ve found the team for me

“Perhaps this was meant to be?” — A piece written by our newest addition in business operations (also known as joy makers), Karin Äng.

When I was about nineteen, I spent a year in London where I worked and did some thinking about my next step in life. You know, thinking about what to study and what to become. (All while visiting some nice places in London, of course.) One thing I came across was a company that worked with headhunting; matching people with roles and companies, and I remembered I was quite fascinated being in that process. I thought, in the back of my mind, that this could be something for me. I like to listen to people, hear what they say and try to understand their driving force and their personality. But then I forgot all about it.

I like to listen to people, hear what they say and try to understand their driving force and their personality.

After the adventures in London, I continued to explore my passions in life and ended up spending several years in Copenhagen studying and working. Somehow, I was really drawn towards to the tech industry — and the Danish “hygge” lifestyle of course. Finally, just a couple of months ago, I was ready for my next challenge.

But where?

Looking back, seeing myself as a 14-year-old girl playing floorball and coaching the junior team, I could definitely picture myself as some kind of team leader. I’ve grown up playing in different teams, football and floorball, to name a few. I love being on a team, I love winning as a team, I love working hard as a team.

By coincidence I stumbled into Mpya Digital — a brand new company with tech consultants! When first meeting Mpya, and talking about their vision and their challenges, I quickly fell in love. When we discussed my role in even more detail — working with clients and consultants in order to find the right person for the right assignment — I suddenly remembered the year in London and the headhunting company. Perhaps this was meant to be?

In any case, being a part of a company that just started out on a journey not to conquer the world but to concentrate on the people, on self-management, on human beings and on the beauty of a team, is a dream come true for me. I also believe that the years spent studying branding and communication will be of help now when we all need to chip in order to build this new exciting brand called Mpya Digital.

I strongly believe that when people help each other, when you are encouraged to be true to yourself and to come up with new projects, there are no limits. I know I will enjoy every minute of it — and so will my 14-year-old self.

Because now I’m on a team!
